Wedorama: The Ultimate Wedding Website

When we got engaged I couldn't make a site fast enough on theknot.com, but it did not offer me enough editing capabilities and customization. I found out about a site that is owned through theknot.com called Wedorama.com, and it is a website that you can post all of your information about your wedding, and so much more.

I got a coupon through the knot and got an amazing deal. I would highly recommend this to any bride that is looking for a show stopper website to show to friends/family/ guests.

DIY Project 3: Custom Monogram Part 2

I have never been the type of person who just has one thing and makes a decision on it. I need choices, even with things I am making myself. I made another custom monogram last night, and now I need to decide which one to use for the wedding. Any thoughts on which one I should use? Below is the other monogram (sorry the picture is so slow, I had to keep resizing it to fit into the post)

Photobucket

I changed the flowers that we are having at the church. Originally I had 6 pew flowers (first three rows) of bushels of roses, but the more I thought about that I really did not want it. So I called my florist yesterday (she is amazing by the way), and told her that I wanted to do something different. I had red flowers originally in the church, but now we changed them to all white, as well as got rid of the pew flowers and replaced them with two large flower arrangements to go at the front of the church. I am really excited about this. She is going to send me a picture later on, and I can't wait to see them.

More later, I am just getting going for the day.

Stuffy Nose Bride: Dealing With Allergies and Your Wedding

For a few months out of the year Feb-May/June I have the worst allergies. I have the extreme stuffy nose, sneezing, itchy eyes, its just horrid. This year has been especially bad, which makes me worried about my allergies going crazy on the wedding day!

In a desperate attempt to figure out what to do I have started a new allergy regime. I am still taking my daily allergy pill, but have also added an allergy decongestant. I was buying the ones that were out on the aisles at the drug store, but they were not helping, so I got the decongestant from the pharmacist, and they work so much better. With the new laws about the pseudoephedrine require it to be kept behind the counter, but they work so much better. You have to fill out some information, but who cares, I need relief!

What I am basically saying is take care of your allergies before your wedding, take something, go to an allergist. You don't want to have your wedding day be all up in stuffy land. One sneeze could ruin all of your eye makeup.

Here is a link that I found with more information: Don't Let your Nose Spoil your Nuptials

DIY Project 2: Custom Monogram

I was able to make a custom monogram for things for our wedding, thanks to the blog:
Wedding Monograms

I don't know if this will be my final one, but I am super excited about it. I keep using photoshop elements at school, but I think that I need to buy my own version. I was looking on the website and they will give a 30 free trial, and then to buy the entire program it is just 79.99. No complaints there!

Hopefully I will be able to create another template today, maybe the table numbers, but we shall see. I didn't come to school to work on this, I have a huge paper due and am skipping my classes before to make sure it is all edited.

DIY Project 1: Directions to Reception

So I made the cards that we are going to hand out after the ceremony to give our guests directions to the wedding reception. I am pretty please how they turned out. I have a little more tweaking to do, but overall I am very happy. We are going to print them on white cardstock.

Here is a small .gif of it. Blogger wouldnt let me make it any bigger. Oh well you get the drift.

Full Mass and Catholic Weddings

Came across this while reading for today, and it was really helpful and interesting to read on why it is important to have a full mass ceremony for our wedding. It just makes me that much more excited for the ceremony!

II. The Celebration of Marriage
1621
In the Latin Rite the celebration of marriage between two Catholic faithful normally takes place during Holy Mass, because of the connection of all the sacraments with the Paschal mystery of Christ.120 In the Eucharist the memorial of the New Covenant is realized, the New Covenant in which Christ has united himself for ever to the Church, his beloved bride for whom he gave himself up.121 It is therefore fitting that the spouses should seal their consent to give themselves to each other through the offering of their own lives by uniting it to the offering of Christ for his Church made present in the Eucharistic sacrifice, and by receiving the Eucharist so that, communicating in the same Body and the same Blood of Christ, they may form but "one body" in Christ.122
1622
"Inasmuch as it is a sacramental action of sanctification, the liturgical celebration of marriage . . . must be, per se, valid, worthy, and fruitful."123 It is therefore appropriate for the bride and groom to prepare themselves for the celebration of their marriage by receiving the sacrament of penance.
1623
According to the Latin tradition, the spouses as ministers of Christ's grace mutually confer upon each other the sacrament of Matrimony by expressing their consent before the Church. In the traditions of the Eastern Churches, the priests (bishops or presbyters) are witnesses to the mutual consent given by the spouses,124 but for the validity of the sacrament their blessing is also necessary.125
1624
The various liturgies abound in prayers of blessing and epiclesis asking God's grace and blessing on the new couple, especially the bride. In the epiclesis of this sacrament the spouses receive the Holy Spirit as the communion of love of Christ and the Church.126 The Holy Spirit is the seal of their covenant, the ever-available source of their love and the strength to renew their fidelity.

Lessons...

I have seen this quote so many times. I know Grandpa and Margaret have told me this mores time than I can remember. As the wedding nears, this quote means more to me now than ever.

In just a few months, I will be getting married to the best thing that ever happened to me. I am marrying my best friend. I am so lucky. Nick is so amazing, people do not even realize. He is smart, intelligent, caring, and funny. He loves me for me. Even in my crankiest moments he can still stop and hug me. He pushes me to follow my dreams. He is my biggest fan. He is so humble. He inspires me to achieve great things. He would do anything for me. I would do anything for him.

We are entering a major journey together and will push one another to grow as the years pass. We will follow our dreams, and go on this adventure together. I am truly blessed. I am so excited to be able to have this beautiful wedding with him that we will remember forever. We both know how much we love one another, but now we can show our friends and family truly how amazing our relationship is. I do not know what I did right the day he came into my life, but I am sure happy it did.

Life is not always perfect, but getting through it together makes the trip worthwhile.

Update about life later on today.

This angers me.

The City of Berkeley makes me sick. Not too sure if it has been on the news a lot down south, but it has up here.

I don't usually get this upset about issues facing our country, but for some reason this has really angered me. I am proud to be an American and I support our country no matter what. I think what this city has done is disgusting.

The things that this local government has come out and said would NEVER be allowed to be said anywhere else. They would be killed for what they have declared.

This is turning into Vietnam all over again.

Don’t they realize that the soldiers are over in the Middle East hearing these stories, do you think that makes them feel good? NO. It makes them feel like what they are doing is wrong. They are protecting us, and helping others who are not as lucky as we are.

It is so hypocritical to say you support the troops, but you don’t support the war. Most people don’t understand that difference.

The sad thing is that if something were to happen in this area the military would still be there to support and protect them.

"Americans are a free people, who know that freedom is the right of every person and the future of every nation. The liberty we prize is not America's gift to the world; it is God's gift to humanity."--George W. Bush

Wedding Accesories

So mom and I have been trying to figure out what to get for wedding accessories, and thought you would like to see what we have so far.

Finding all the little things is going to be the hardest part I just don't know.

Monday Ramblings.

So after this weekend, all the big things are done for the wedding! Even if we do not do anything else we will have a beautiful wedding. such a great thing. :)

Mom and I have been working lots of getting all the little things and now we just have to order them.

Here are the centerpieces we got. Except for the center is a candle option not the floral option. We are going to put red votive candles in them, and put red rose petals all over the table, and everything else will be white (chair covers and tablecloth) and the napkins will be red. I TOTALLY love them.

Since all the major things are done, I can start working on my outfits for the honeymoon. I have 11 days to plan for, but I am sure I will wear some outfits a couple times. The good thing is that we do not have to change hotels, and I do not have to buy plug converters since our hotel comes with it. So I am going to start getting little things here and there and build a cute little European wardrobe. Here is one outfit I love!
Clothes ideas

Nick and I have been dating 3 years tomorrow. So very exciting and very special to us. February is definitely the love month here! February 5th- Anniversary February 14th- Valentine's day February 17th- Day we got engaged. We are so happy, and are sure that the happiness will only grow as the years pass!

I found a video of the hotel we are staying in, and I think this is the type of room we are going to stay in. Pretty nice if you ask me!!!!!!

That's it for today. Long day at school, time to watch some TV and hit the hay.

Love, Kaitlin

Don't forget to wear red today!

Today is National Wear Red Day, promoted by the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women campaign. The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness of heart disease and stroke in women. Although most women are more concerned about breast and other cancers, stroke is the third leading cause of death for American women and twice as many women die of stroke than breast cancer every year. Stroke and heart disease will kill twice as many women as cancer.

For more information: Go Red For Women

Also, if you go to Macy's today and are wearing red you get 15%off.

Off to School.

We are leaving to go to school in about an hour. Although I am dreading these night classes, it is nice to sleep in a little and relax before getting into the day. It is our last semester though! I am really excited for all my classes, minus my Spanish class, or as dad would say my "mickey mouse" spanish class. lol.

The reception lady did not call me back, so I am going to have to call her again tomorrow and give her a little talking to. I just don't understand vendors. We are giving them ALOT of money and they could have the decency to call me back. Yargh. Maybe I will just have to take a little trip over there and meet with her face to face because she is not doing well with the phone.

It's been raining a lot the last few days, and I think that Nick and I are the only one's that are loving it. Its so relaxing and so refreshing. I don't like summer and heat, I wish it was winter rainy all the time. I would be so happy. Especially if I had cute coats to match. Next year!

In other news, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARGARET!!Well, I will be home around 9:30 tonight, if I am not too tired I will post about our day, but if not first thing in the morning.

New Ring and Tuxes!

Sitting here watching our oh so glorious netflix, and thought I would give a little update. Today was very productive. We booked the suits for the men for the wedding. yay! That was a big weight off my shoulder, and I love crossing things off my to-do lists. I love to-do lists. :)

Oh and as you all know we ordered our wedding rings, and my new wedding set, and it was all put together today. So excited. love it! My wedding ring itself actually a slide on for this part. I am truly blessed.

Tomorrow we are going to spend the day cleaning up the house and getting ready for school starting on Monday. blah!! But it is our last semester, so it is something to be excited about!

Well, more later.

New book. :)

I am pretty sure that this is going to be my new

favorite book ever. At least is school/work aspect

What a productive last couple of days!

Hi again! So I have sent an e-mail out to the family letting them know about ths blog so that they can know about what is going on and up to the minute reports of school, life and wedding stuff! Who knows maybe the whole family will get blogging too! (If they do, tell me and I will make sure I subscribe so I don't miss a beat!)

On to today's post!

So my anxiety level has gone down like maybe 2%, but the last couple days have been so productive!

We finally decided upon what dresses the girls will be wearing, which was a big stress reliever if you ask me! The dress that my sister picked out is beautiful. Just what I wanted. She knows me so well!

We also figured out what wording should take place on the invitations. It was so easy! Everyone agreed on what to write. I am very happy about that. Mom and I will be ordering those very soon. I think I might add a bow or crystals to it, but I don't know. I am very excited though because I really wanted the pocket look. Here it is:

Yesterday our wedding rings arrived, and so did my new engagement ring! I got a new ring so that it would match the set. I am very excited! I will put pictures up once the ring is put together. It is beautiful. I am very blessed to have Nick and his family and my amazing family.

Mom and I talked last night and decided we really have to get moving on all the little things. So we are on a quest to find good deals on all those added touches that really make the wedding pop.

Oh and my dress arrived back in the shop yesterday! After taking 7 months to be made it is ready for me to have it fitted and to take home! Yay I am so excited! I guess that means I need to find my wedding shoes. Ugh I hate shoe shopping!

Talked to Dad and Barb last night, which was very productive as well! They are so funny. It was a nice chat. I think that the talks with both of them on the phone at the same time was very enjoyable. :) That has to happen more often. We chatted out wedding details, and TV of course. :)

I am really happy that everyone is so willing to help out with all that is going on, and is starting to get excited! I have been excited the whole time, but it makes it so much more fun to have the whole family really looking forward to everything.

School is starting on Monday. I am excited because it is the last semester, but at the same time I am not ready to go back. Plus on Monday and Wednesday I have night classes till 9 p.m. that is going to stink! Oh well. It has to be done though. I can't believe that Nick and I are going ot be graduating in May.

Well, I guess I should get to work. :)

Leave comments, and make sure to keep reading!

Until next time....

149 days till the wedding.

And I am no where near as ready as I should be. But I have all the major things done. My whole goal during winter break that I was going to get all crafty and get more done, and that did not happen at all.

I know everything will work out, but there were so many things that I wanted to make and get and now I am worried it won't happen. This is what I get for being a DIY bride. I guess I need to let fate take its course.

Wedding Breakdown as of now:

What I haveDone
Dress
Rings
Reception Site
Ceremeony Site

Flowers
Cake

Ceremony Music (4 string quartet)
Photographer
DJ

Alright I know, I have all the major stuff done. But now its all the finishing touches, and the invitations that I need to get done, and for some reason that is stressing me out more than anything. But I know it will get done, andI know I have to start getting things ready and made.

So I really want to make these:

That is my quest today, to find directions on how to make a couple of these for the reception. I am thinking just two or three of them. Maybe just one depending on the price and how long it will take me to make them.

Dreading work today. Wish I was at home watching glorious netflix.
